Charm City FC Forfeits to Erie, Hands Them Division July 11, 2009

Charm City FC has FORFEITED THEIR MATCH TO ERIE, thus handing the Admirals the division title on what could have been a really interesting final weekend when anything could have happened. BCFC should be outraged, because they were robbed, plain and simple. Charm City claims an accident or something. My guess is D@rren Larocque! crashed his Mom’s mini-van in the Maryland House rest stop parking lot while getting a Carmel Macchiata and some McNuggets. Seriously though, hope no one was hurt.

NONETHELESS, Part of the mandate of the league, as I understand it, is to AVOID FORFEITURE AT ALL COSTS, and boy, did NPSL blow it. AND on the most important weekend possible. Let’s be clear: the league is at largely at fault here, as they likely forced CCFC to play 3 matches this weekend. Regardless, the playoffs start the 18th, that leaves an entire week to work it out. I guess not. UPDATE: I have been informed by more than one league official that NPSL had nothing to do with the schedule. Regardless, in my opinion they should not have accepted the forfeits.

Again, BCFC should be blowing their stacks at this point. As much as I jab at their mushy heads with a sharp stick, c’mon, they were entitled to due process. What a joke.

As for Erie: you escaped a tough weekend and didn’t have to play the key matches to legitimately win the title with BCFC breathing down your necks. I saw the “2009 Keystone Division Champions!” headline on your website. Don’t be too proud of yourselves, you didn’t win in a sporting fashion. It’s not your fault, but keep things in perspective.

Well I think you missed the boat on this one. Thhe league foesny make the schedule. The teams do. As for Erie winning the title this weekend over buffalo. They both had a forfeit win over charm city. So they both played the same 9 games and Erie finished on top.

Well just wanted to say I do enjoy reading your blog all the time and do appreciate the effort you put into it; however, on this one you’re way off. Few things. The League does not make the schedule, the teams do. Charm City could not make their trip to Buffalo/Erie 2 weeks ago and this was the last weekend to get the match in. Charm City wanted to play 2 games in the same day, the league really didn’t want that, but that was what they wanted to do to avoid forfeits (yes a lot of good that did).

Charm City’s players told their management to basically F*** off and refused to play, leaving both Erie and Buffalo with Forfeit victories.

Erie was not handed the title due to the forfeit, they in fact, won it without even needing the match against Charm City.

Buffalo and Erie both played the same 9 matches and had 1 forfeit awarded to them against Charm City. Erie had the better point total. Yes I know you screen these before posting them, so this probably won’t make it on your site, but I wanted to let you know. Yes I know it’s fun to be mad at ‘the Man’, but really Buffalo City should have taken care of business in their own matches and they wouldn’t have been in this perceived situation.

Well, here it is on on my site. I don’t screen anything, I post everything that isn’t SPAM.

I respectfully disagree. Had Erie tied or lost to Reading and lost to Charm City )or vice versa), and Buffalo wins out, it’s a different story.

Bottom line: the matches should have been played, plain and simple.

However, Erie did beat Reading, so they clinched the title on Saturday without needing Sunday’s match.

I know the games should have been scheduled. I’m in everyone’s corner on this. I can’t make the Charm City players get in their vans and drive. They wouldn’t do it 2 weeks ago and they didn’t want to do it this weekend either.

Apologies to everyone in the league whom this has effected.

Sincerely,

CCFC
